CIDESCO Conference Zurich 2012

12 November 2012 – Section: News ,

The beautiful city of Zurich was this year’s setting for the CIDESCO Conference, home of CIDESCO International. From the 13th to the 15th of October, International Examiner’s, Schools and Sections came from all around the world to represent CIDESCO.

Once again, the CIDESCO Conference was enjoyed by all that attended.

The Examiners workshop started the conference on the 13th, where the CIDESCO International Examiners gathered to discuss examining procedures, rules and regulations. Special guest lectures from industry experts were arranged giving the Examiners the opportunity to learn more about our industry and its future. The guest lectures were:
Dr Kruglikov – Germany – Scientific basics of body treatments, future strategies by circumference reduction and cellulite treatments and Super fractionation;
Dr Zulli – Switzerland – Stem cells in cosmetic products and future trends;
Dr Gerny and Ms Tischhauser– Switzerland – Aesthetic Dermatology

That evening we had the pleasure of attending a cocktail evening at the CIDESCO Head Offices in Zurich. It was wonderful to see where the magic happens and meet the team.

The Schools Meeting was then held on the 14th, allowing for all of the CIDESCO International Schools to come together to discuss the Beauty Therapy Syllabus and the importance of keeping the standards of CIDESCO Schools throughout the world, high, during this time, we also had the pleasure of attending a presentation by Angela Barbagelata followed by a demonstration with MDA Diamond head and light Therapy.

Following the Schools Meeting, we had the pleasure of having further guest lectures from Mr Fleckenstein – Switzerland – Innovative Laser methods and the power of light; and Dr Andrea Bovero and Dr Umberto Borellini – Italy – Skin and Brain: new trends in cosmetic treatments. After the guest lectures we headed to theGala Evening at the oldest craftsmans guild, Zunfthaus zur Saffran , where a traditional Swiss dinner had been prepared for all that attended.

One of the most exciting days, was the General Assembly, held on the 15th. The General Assembly is where all of the Sections from 33 countries around the world gather to make important decisions on the rules, regulations and standards of CIDESCO. Every four years the CIDESCO International board members are elected. This board is made up of six people whose roles are to help maintain the exceptionally high standards of CIDESCO.

The electing of the board members, although incredibly exciting, is also rather sad as we say goodbye and a huge thank you to the existing board members. We had the honour of having Ursula Van Deelan, honorary President of CIDESCO, chair the elections.

As we said a fond farewell to our wonderful President Kyriacos Poupoutsis, who has served as President of CIDESCO for the past four years, we welcomed Anna-Cari Gund from Sweden as the new President of CIDESCO. The other board members that were elected to serve CIDESCO for the next four years were:

•Josephine Wackett, Great Britain – Vice President.
•Narelle Blinman, Australia – Board Member for Education
•Brigitte Sterz, Germany – General Secretary
•Ken Kume, Japan – Treasurer
•Sandy Roy, South Africa – Public Relations

Each of these board members for CIDESCO International all have huge amounts of expertise in their relevant areas, and we as CIDESCO Section A GB welcome them and wish them all the best for the future.

It was once again, a successful conference and we are now looking forward to next year’s…The 61st CIDESCO WORLD CONGRESS & Exhibition is to be held in Wuhan, China in November, 2013. We look forward to seeing you there!
