Becoming a BISA School

Schools can apply to become a regular School/Training Centre member of BISA. Membership entitles schools to use the BISA logo, be listed on the website and to vote on matters concerning the assocation. See the membership area for further information.

Quality Assurance and the Diploma in Spa Therapies

Schools wishing to offer the PDA Diploma in Spa therapies will also need to apply for approval from the Scottish Qualification Authority. SQA’s quality assurance process is twofold:

  • centre approval, and then
  • qualification approval.

A centre can become approved by SQA, either in its own right or as a satellite site.

Teaching and learning materials for tutors and candidates have been developed to support the course.

International Centres

If centres wish to deliver the PDA Diploma in Spa therapies they can do so in several ways:

  • They could attach themselves to a Scottish College initially in order to become an SQA Approved Centre.
  • If an international centres wishes to become fully SQA approved they can do so as long as they have the resources and teaching staff to deliver the award.

There are many differences in how education authorities will provide funding for new qualifications and given SQA endorsement individuals will be able to approach their own appropriate bodies.
